Syracuse University’s Intermodal Transportation Center was the last phase of the university’s Center Of Excellence, a LEED Platinum Project. This phase included the Center’s parking lot and a pavilion for bicycle parking which also serves as a bus stop. The site consisted of contaminated soils and so a difficult remediation process occurred prior to the realization of the new construction. The project involved federal and state funds requiring complicated specifications meeting FHWA and NYS DOT standards. Carl Emberger, Jr. served as the Project Manager and Project Architect for the design and bidding phases during his time at Erdy McHenry Architecture.
