Inspired by a small meditation pavilion at a Presbyterian conference center in Stoney Point, New York, the International Christian University engaged GYA Architects to develop the designs for several different projects. The whole process was an incredible collaboration with the University, with their faculty and administration, with a Japanese construction company, and with the design team. Team members traveled halfway around the world and back to make these visions real. The work at the University included three dormitories, one high-rise for visiting professors and faculty, and a large dining hall and classroom building. These projects serve to further the International Christian University’s core mission of providing Christian-based education to various parts of the globe. Carl Emberger, Jr. assisted in creating design documents which were then used by a Japanese construction company to develop the construction documents and build projects in his time at GYA Architects.
